Scholarships

ISSDP offers over 30 scholarships to support participation in the meeting by four groups:

  • researchers who have previously received a scholarship for Asian researchers to attend an ISSDP annual conference (there will be a special meeting in Hong Kong for these scholars).
  • researchers from the ‘least developed countries’ in Asia (see list at http://www.oecd.org/dac/financing-sustainable-development/development-finance-standards/daclist.htm).
  • early career researchers (i.e. postgraduate student, or within 5 years of completing PhD).
  • members of communities who are directly affected by drug policy (e.g. people who have problems with drug use, or who face criminalised due to their drug use).

Each scholarship will provide up to £980 towards the cost of registration, travel and accommodation. This will be paid by ISSDP to selected scholars on submission of receipts after the meeting.

Scholars will be selected by the board of the ISSDP on the basis of the rating of abstracts by the meeting’s scientific committee. The submitters of the most highly rated abstracts in each group will receive the scholarship awards.

N.B. The scholarship awards are dependent on ISSDP receiving external funding, which is not yet confirmed.
