Dr. David BREWSTER

Dr. Brewster completed his doctoral studies at Cardiff University (UK), and has worked in research and teaching posts at the University of South Wales (UK) and the University of the West of England (UK) before becoming a postdoctoral researcher at Ryukoku University's Criminology Research Center in Kyoto, Japan. With a core interest in comparative questions of how crime and its control manifests across and within different contexts, particularly in relation to illegal drugs, he has conducted empirical research in England & Wales, the Netherlands and Japan. In 2022, his first monograph entitled Cultures of Cannabis Control: An International Comparison of Policy Making is due to be published, and he has gained a growing reputation for publishing research in internationally distinguished journals in the field of criminology. Dr. Brewster is an active member of the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy, serves as a member of the Public Relations Committee of the Japanese Association of Sociological Criminology, and is a member of the Organizing Committee for the Asian Criminological Society's 12th Annual Conference. He is also the Co-founder and current International Officer of the Early Career Criminology Research Network of Japan.
