Dr. Lawrence Kaki HO
Dr. Lawrence Ho is a specialist in public policy, criminal justice, policing, and public order management. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at The Education University of Hong Kong and an Honorary Fellow of the Centre for Criminology at the University of Hong Kong. After receiving his M. Phil. degree in politics & Ph. D. degree in Sociology (Criminology) in the University of Hong Kong, he has worked in political parties and tertiary institutions as policy researcher after graduation. He joined the Education University of Hong Kong in August 2012.
Lawrence's research interest concentrates on history and sociology of policing, comparative policing practices, public order management, criminal justice systems and public policies. Lawrence is currently engaging in several research projects on Hong Kong policing and comparative policing practices, including the legitimacy and accountability of Hong Kong policing; gender and policing; youth, media and policing; strategy on protest management. His latest research projects are on comparative Hong Kong and Macau policing and police oversight mechanisms.
