Dr. Pui Kwan MAN

Dr. Man is an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her doctoral thesis“General strain theory and a gendered analysis of gambling disorder: an examination of married couples in Hong Kong”was awarded the Frank Ng Memorial Scholarship for Sociological Studies of Crime and Deviance in 2019.

Her research interests include sociology of crime and deviance, addictive behaviors, gambling disorder, social problems, gender, family and marriage, entrepreneurship, income inequity, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and migration and well-being. She has published articles in the Journal of Gambling Studies, Asian Population Studies, and Asian and Pacific Migration Journal.

Prior to joining Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Dr. Man worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Hong Kong and a teaching member at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Education University of Hong Kong.
