Dr. Sky Hoi-leung LAU

Dr. Sky H.L. Lau attained his PhD in Sociology at The University of Hong Kong.  He is now a freelancer teaching sociology, gender, sexuality, and health in various universities.  His research interests mainly lie on gender and sexuality (especially on male homosexuality), medical sociology, drug use, harm reduction, and people living with HIV/AIDS.  His past studies have focused on the practice of Chem-Fun (a.k.a. chemsex) in the Hong Kong gay community (2011-2014 and 2017-2018 [funded by Beat Drug Fund]) and the HARIS (HIV/AIDS Response Indicator Survey) project (2019-2020 [funded by Department of Health]).  He has been invited by various local and overseas government bodies and NGOs to give talks and workshops on his expertise of Chem-Fun.  He serves as a broad member of Midnight Blue which is a local NGO for male and transgender sex workers.  He is the author of Gay Specificity in Hong Kong (Roundtable Synergy Books, 2010).
